Movie Night Popcorn
We all do it. We put a new popular movie into the DVD player, we sit down on the living room couch, it’s finally dark outside after a long day, and then it hits us. We want popcorn. Usually, we just pop a store bought popcorn bag into the microwave for a few minutes and enjoy that for a few minutes into the movie. But after doing that multiple times, it gets quite boring.
We’ve found a delicious new twist on a popular snack that you are going to love! It’s high in fiber and zinc and much lighter than the extremely buttered popcorn you find at the theater. Instead of the same old boring popcorn, try the low calorie sea salt and chocolate drizzled popcorn recipe below instead.
What you’ll need:
½ cup fresh popcorn kernels
¼ cup dark chocolate chips
Extra virgin olive oil (any neutral oil will do)
A dash of sea salt
*Makes 12 cups of popcorn
- Pop your popcorn.
- Melt dark chocolate chips in a small non-stick pan over low heat and stir continually until it is of a smooth consistency. Turn off the heat and stir in 1 teaspoon olive oil.
- In a large bowl, drizzle 2 tablespoons olive oil and ½ tablespoon sea salt over the popcorn. Toss until evenly coated.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over your popcorn and let sit until the popcorn sets (if you are in a hurry, pop it in the fridge for a few minutes).
- You are ready to serve!
